DIY Hair bow Holder

I have always admired the tutu hair bow holders. I think they are the cutest most precious thing a little girl could have in her room. I was actually quite jealous at the thought my mother never put one in my room. Maybe it was because I didn't have enough hair as baby.

Once I found out mini-me was in fact a mini-me, the first thing I looked at when I got home were tutu hair bow holders. There are so many to choose from--length, color, style, padded, non-padded and the list goes on. Out of all of the blogs, sites and etsy shops, I never found one that I just HAD TO HAVE.  {insert tear}.

I actually got pretty emotional at the thought that mini-me wasn't going to have one (hormones, I sure) because I really wanted to have one for her. I could just picture my sweet little angel with a tutu full of frilly girly bows!

So what does any DIYer do when they can't find something to fit their fancy? Easy they make their dh head to A.C. Moore at 8:00pm to get supplies, because the most awesome idea ever had just popped into their head (at least that's what I did--and no he didn't mind).
Here are the supplies you will need:

Frame
Glue
Ribbon
Scissors
Scrapbook paper

I know these are exactly scissors but it provides me with a much straighter cut for the ribbon and excess paper.

I don't normally like to use this glue on smaller projects--but I was out :(. So I had to improvise. It actually works wonders!

Here I used a shadow box. My intention was to take out the glass but that didn't really work. I almost broke it.

Glitter paper--backing

Butterfly over lay paper

Ribbons galore!

Now that you have all of your supplies--it's time to start crafting.

Step 1: I sprayed the craft glue to the front (glitter side) of the paper.

Step 2: Place overlay on top. (Here you can see there is some excess from the overlay being just a little bit too long. So I used the Scotch Paper cutter to get rid of the excess).

Step 3: Measure your ribbon. I measured the ribbon then I double it up, sprayed a tiny about of glue to the tips and the ends to get them to stick together.

Step 4: I then layed the ribbon over my paper to make sure it was perfect. You know the whole measure twice cut once. I usually say what the hell ever and just cut now ask questions later. Luckily I got it right on the first try!!! Please ignore the short pink ribbon. No I didn't mess up, I just so happen to run out of ribbon and that was a remnant.

Step 5: I taped the tops and ends of the ribbon to the back of the paper. Since this will not be a permanent home for the ribbon and I more than likely will change something before mini-me gets here, tape is a less permanent solution.

Viola!!! I added the bows and held them up just to make sure they didn't slide down!! Whaddya know--SUCCESS!!

This is the final product! I will move these to a much more suitable place once mini gets here. But for the time being they can sit in the frame and go on the wall.
